Lifeskills
What
is it?
Lifeskills is a 12 week full time local training initiative. The aim
of the programme is to provide participants with skills that they can
use to move on to further training or back into the work place.
What
is the content of the programme?
Lifeskills consists of six core modules: Personal Development, Communications,
Maths*, Computer Literacy*,
Preparation for Work* and First Aid. Depending
on the interests and needs of the participants a number of modules are
then added on to the programme including: Personal Care & Presentation*,
DIY, Cookery, Horticulture*, Keep Fit and Food
& Nutrition.
* These modules are delivered as a part of the FETAC Level 3 national
certificate.
Where
and when?
Lifeskills
is facilitated locally in communities in South and West Offaly. Since
its foundation it has taken place in Crinkle, Birr and Kinnitty.
What
will you gain?
You will gain improved self-knowledge and self-esteem. You will also
be equipped with the skills, knowledge, attitude and practical experience
necessary to enable decisions on and entry to future training or employment.
Who is eligible?
Men
and women aged 16 to 64 years who are currently unemployed (or in part-time
work). Training, travel, childcare, and meal allowances are available
to eligible candidates (FAS terms and conditions apply).
