Community Employment Supervisors Network

The Partnership facilitates and supports the West Offaly Community Employment (CE) Supervisors Network. The Network is comprised of supervisors from CE projects in Ballycumber, Banagher, Birr, Clara, Ferbane, Kilcormac and Shinrone. FÁS Community Services officers also attend network meetings.

The network meetings rotate to each of the supervisors areas and provides a forum where supervisors meet to:

- Visit CE projects in each host community;
- Receive and discuss updates from FÁS Community Services;
- Identify and implement training programmes for participants, both locally and where some projects facilitate training for other CE projects;
- Share learning and support each other with issues that may be encountered on CE projects;
- Avail of training for supervisors.

CE Projects in West Offaly play a valuable role in providing work experience and training for participants in their local communities. Participants work on projects in communities that include:

- Maintenance of community centres and other community facilities;
- Supports for older groups;
- Support for community childcare projects;
- Environmental enhancement in villages, towns and amenity areas;
- Development and maintenance of sporting organisations facilities;
- Maintenance of churches and grounds;
- Tourist Information provision.

West Offaly Partnership also facilitates CE Sponsor Groups to identify local needs when plans are being prepared.
